My first quilting adventure! I introduced these blankets to you earlier this month and I finally have them to show to you! This was such a great project for me to take on. I love getting through projects quickly and this one really put me in my place!
I’ll tell you what I learned immediately. There is NO possible way to speed cut quilt squares! Making perfect 12″ by 12″ squares in the middle of a t-shirt/sweatshirt is incredibly nerve racking, especially when you can’t go back out and buy more fabric if/when you mess up. Every measurement and cut have to be exact or else nothing will line up properly.
I spent an additional day laying out all the pieces and re-laying out all the pieces so that all the colors would be balanced and all of the activities were represented on each blanket. I mean we all know how we fought as kids, if my sister got a new Easter dress, then I had to get a new Easter dress, if my brother got to get ice cream then I wanted ice cream too (actually I always wanted ice-cream, but that was always a sure win =)
So I separated them by color first then by activity. Once they were balanced I got to pinning them all together and with the magic of a sewing machine and the help of the incredible Jackie! Out came these two sweet blankets!
Can’t wait to show you what I have in the works right now!
As always enjoy! And I’ll be back soon! =)
*****Each product is handmade from second hand clothing and fabrics and is completely one of a kind, I couldn’t duplicate any of these bags even if I wanted too! It’s my way of going green and staying in style.
