Mama Jackie’s “Myrtle Ray” Tote DONE!

This bag has been a long time coming!  I originally made this for Mama Jackie’s birthday in March when she ordered a bag for her sister.  She’d given me items of her mothers who passed away to make a special bag for her sister Deby and wanted one for herself as well.

This bag was made out of her mother, Myrtle Ray’s, old bowling shirt!  And the inside is from a quilt Jackie found.  The pocket inside is made from the shirt sleeve of the bowling shirt (the other sleeve was used for the pocket of Deby’s bag.)  I had it done a long time ago, but this was one of the bags I wrote about in this post, that was sitting by my machine because I was scared to finish it out of fear that I would break my machine =/

Jackie still hasn’t seen it completely finished but I can’t wait to give it to her!  I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose my mother, but the comfort of being able to carry something around that was her’s, I imagine would bring some sense of comfort.  I’m hoping it’ll at least bring about some good memories.

I’m honored that she trusted me to re-construct these precious items that she had of her mother, and I hope she’s happy with the end result!

Thanks for stopping by!  And as always…
